Flowered Respite | Open [Finished]

JaeJoong frowned as he flopped into the flowers atop one of the many hills, sighing softly. He turned onto his back, staring up at the darkening sky and biting his lip. "...work so much, but don't get anywhere..." he mumbled to himself, shaking his head and closing his eyes. He was tired of overworking himself and losing full night's sleep to do odd and end jobs, but barely earn anything. He'd been stuck in the same apartment since he'd moved into the City, and that was a very, very long time ago. If anything, all JaeJoong wanted was a little bit of change. Just a little.

Though he doubted that would ever happen. It seemed as though no matter how much he saved up, he just never could afford more than what he already had. And he hated it. JaeJoong was beginning to think that one day off a week was one day too many.

As the night began to draw in, Shinji decided to go on a walk outside of the city. He had driven to the hills deciding it would be nice since it was much more quiet than either the forest or beach, and he really had no interest in going south. He was tired from another sleepless night, but sleep just wasn't going to happen for him, just as it didn't the previous, what was it, four nights now? The demon had lost track at this point. But despite it not being for sleep, he took the night off anyway. His club didn't need his attention, and he needed ice cream, so it worked out.

He had brought along several ice creams to eat as he walked, though most were already gone. It was one of his more strange habits he developed. Since he could remember, Shinji had always had an addiction to ice cream. To him, it was even more addictive than smoking, or any kind of drug. Currently he had a melon and vanilla ice cream pop between his lips, and only one left in his pocket, chocolate if he did the subtraction right in his head, that he kept cold with his magic.

Walking along, he looked up at the clear sky mindlessly, until he tripped over something in the grass.

He yelped as someone or something tripped over him, scrambling away a little from who or whatever it was. Jaejoong blinked, tilting his head as he finally sat up properly and looked at the dark-haired man that had interrupted his thoughts. He tilted his head, a curious expression spreading over his features. "...are you okay...?" he asked tentatively.

Shinji looked blankly at the young man who stared back at him. He almost felt bad for tripping over him, but it wasn't entirely his fault since the other was laying in the middle of a field. His eyebrow twitched just slightly as if he were to raise it. Why was this man asking if he was alright, when he would be the one hurt from being tripped over? Shinji took the ice cream from between his lips, and licked them lightly before speaking. "Are you?"

Ah, ice cream. JaeJoong didn't particularly like ice cream. He wouldn't say anything though, that would be extremely rude. So he nodded, his long hair falling into his face. He brushed it back, offering a slight smile. "Yes, I'm fine...thank you," he said, giving the other male a slightly curious look. He seemed very complex, at least to Jae. Then again, everyone seemed very complex to him.

Shinji couldn't say that he liked the way this young man was looking at him. It made him feel somewhat uncomfortable. Sure he was used to being looked at as the owner of a popular night club, but it was completely different being looked at in a crowd than when more individually. He noticed that the man glanced to his ice cream for just a moment, so Shinji decided to say something. Hell, it was much better than awkward silences. "Do you like ice cream?"

Did he what? JaeJoong frowned, shaking his head a few times. "No, I don't like it," he answered, frowning a bit more. Truth was, he hated the stuff. He'd liked it as a kid, at least until other members of the herd he had once been a part of had started forcing him to eat very strange and very disgusting flavors of it.

Shinji's face contorted slightly into a frown. Someone didn't like ice cream? That was just...weird. "Why not? It's very good," his statement was a bit more flat than it probably should have been. But he absolutely loved ice cream, even if his tone wasn't completely convincing. He had tried almost every kind there was, only leaving the most obscure flavors untouched. His favorites were melon and tea flavors though, just above chocolate.

"....bad childhood experiences with it, I guess. I used to like it, though," he said, sighing and flopping back into the flowers to avoid the look of disgust he figured he was about to get from the other male. Leave it to him to be tripped over by someone who's favorite food - well, thing - seemed to be his least favorite.

Shinji wasn't disgusted, more surprised than anything. What sort of thing could happen to a kid that would make them not like something so amazing? He blinked at the man laying there for a moment sucking on his melon ice cream. "You don't like any of it? Not even chocolate?" he was curious now. It wasn't usual for his interest to be taken by someone, but this was too much for him. The young man had to like at least one of the most basic flavors.

Ugh, chocolate ice cream. His favorite thing ever. But...ice cream? Come on. He shook his head again. "...probably not..." he mumbled, frowning. JaeJoong had a feeling that this man was, more than likely, not going to let him be about any of this.

"Have you even tried it?" Shinji was in awe. He didn't expect anyone to like ice cream the same as he did, even for an ice element his love for cold things was a bit extreme. He had to surround himself with a cold atmosphere above his skin just to be comfortable out of his home, which he also layered in ice. It was actually insufferable to most. "He pulled the chocolate ice cream pop he had left in his pocket and held it above the young man's face. "Here."

"A very long time ago," he answered, opening his eyes. He blinked a few times at the food held over him, a little confused. "...you want me to eat it...?" he asked quietly, taking the ice cream pop hesitantly and looked at the other man with a questioning expression.

"What else would you do with it?" Shinji tilted his head slightly. He really hoped that this boy wasn't slow. That would make things annoying. He already dealt with all sorts of idiots in his club, and didn't want to on his day off as well.

"Put it back in the freezer?" he said with a tinge of sarcasm, smiling and sitting up. He gave the ice cream a speculative look, as if to make sure it was the kind he was told that it was. JaeJoong sighed quietly, biting off a small portion of it, expecting something else. But, it definitely tasted like chocolate. Good chocolate, too. He blinked, tilting his head slightly.

"I don't own a freezer," Shinji stated simply. And he didn't. No need for one when his whole home was colder than one. He watched him taste the ice cream slowly, wondering why he was so skeptical of it. He had no interest in fooling or poisoning the kid. It was just normal chocolate ice cream. Expensive, but that was normal to Shinji. He didn't flaunt his wealth too much, but he did make sure the things he bought were the best as far as quality was concerned. And those things usually came with a higher price tag.

Jaejoong shrugged, accepting that it was alright to eat the rest of it, too, and took another bite of the ice cream. "...you don't own a freezer, huh? ...lemme guess...ice elemental of some sort?" he asked quietly, not exactly wanting to pry, but curiosity to what the other male was winning him over.

"Demon," Shinji said flatly, assuming that the other was clever enough to put 'ice elemental' and 'demon' together. Though, he didn't expect too much considering a few of the people he has come across. "Don't people normally conduct introductions with names?"

He nodded a bit, putting two and two together. Oh, that's right; he hadn't giving his name. "...I'm sorry, I'm not used to meeting new people...my name's JaeJoong," he said, smiling faintly even though he was mentally scolding himself for being so rude. Then again, he seemed to be good at doing that.

"So you always spend time in empty fields alone?" Shinji tilted his head slightly. It seemed like a strange thing to do, but then again he was trained by in magic by a snow hermit when he was young, so he knew it wasn't uncommon. "My name is Shinji, it's a pleasure to meet you," the demon bowed out of formality as he ;introduced himself.

"It's a hobby on my days off," he answered, blinking. He nodded at Shinji's introduction, smiling. "It's nice to meet you as well, Shinji," he said. The guy wasn't at all half bad, JaeJoong figured. He hadn't been like some people, automatically insulting him for looking like a woman the first moment they met. That was a nice change for Jae, and he liked it.

"You're taking a day off as well?" Shinji was interested. He didn't normally meet random people when he was taking days off. If anything he would run into someone he knew through his club or other things. And JaeJoong was attractive, so it wasn't completely unpleasant. The other was rather feminine in appearance, but nothing Shinji hasn't seen before. Actually, it was pretty toned down compared to some of the people he knew. "What is it you do?"

"Huh? Yes...of course...I shouldn't be, though," he answered, sighing. He truly was beginning to regret even taking any days off in the first place. It was too much off-time, when he should be working. "...I just do odd jobs for people, since I can't secure an actual job," he said, blinking.

"One day off couldn't hurt you that bad," Shinji thought out loud. He personally had never had a problem with taking time off, even when he had just moved into the city. The only reason he worked so much was because he couldn't sleep. But now he had to take time off, even if it wasn't to rest. One could only deal with the stupidity of people for so long, and Shinji more often than not found himself surrounded by such people. He made a slight face at the mention of odd jobs. The demon could only imagine what that meant. Then an idea struck him, and he grinned just a little. "You should work in an ice cream parlor."

He frowned a little. "It does when you've lived at the edge of the City for centuries and still can't afford to move inwards," he mumbled, crossing his legs and picking a flower from beside himself, staring at it. JaeJoong looked up at the mention of an ice cream parlor, frowning. "...you're kidding, right?"
